{"id":97831,"date":"2019-08-02T17:35:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-02T17:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/347953"},"modified":"2019-08-02T17:35:00","modified_gmt":"2019-08-02T17:35:00","slug":"tencent-aiding-with-localization-online-services-for-the-switchs-move-into-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2019\/08\/02\/tencent-aiding-with-localization-online-services-for-the-switchs-move-into-china\/","title":{"rendered":"Tencent aiding with localization, online services for the Switch&#8217;s move into China"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nintendo is working on bringing its flagship game console, the Nintendo Switch, to China in the future, and has started to explain how the Chinese company Tencent will help make that launch possible.<\/p>\n<p>Talk of a Switch launch in China started circulating a few months back, and the pair&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/347315\/Nintendo_Tencent_set_a_date_to_discuss_Switch_launch_in_China.php\">announced shortly after <\/a>that they would hold a joint press conference&nbsp;to shed more light on the process.<\/p>\n<p>During that conference today, Nintendo explained that its partnership with Tencent serves to ease the localization process of some existing games, and that the massive Chinese company will also assist in getting some of the Switch\u2019s online services functional in the country.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2019\/08\/02\/nintendo-switch-china-launch-plans\/\">Engadget<\/a>, Tencent is on board to provide cloud services for Nintendo\u2019s Switch Online service, as well as get the console\u2019s digital games store set up to work with Tencent\u2019s own WeChat payment system.<\/p>\n<p>China is a difficult market to launch games in, and that\u2019s especially true for consoles.
