During a Nintendo Treehouse Live segment<\/a> at this year’s E3, Game Freak producer Junichi Masuda shocked fans when he revealed Pok\u00e9mon Sword and Shield<\/a><\/strong> would not<\/em> include every pocket monster.<\/p>\n

Before this, long-time players were expecting to be able to catch ’em and even transfer ’em all. In an interview with US Gamer, Masuda further explained<\/a> how the decision to limit the Pok\u00e9dex was because “the sheer number of Pok\u00e9mon” had become an issue in itself. Despite this, the phrase ‘Bring Back National Dex’ began trending online.<\/p>\n

In an attempt to calm the situation, The Pok\u00e9mon Company has now published a statement, on behalf of Masuda. It’s a sincere response to the uproar, with the producer admitting it was a “very difficult decision” to make:<\/p>\n

Recently, I shared the news that some Pok\u00e9mon cannot be transferred to Pok\u00e9mon Sword<\/em> and Pok\u00e9mon Shield<\/em>. I’ve read all your comments and appreciate your love and passion for Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Just like all of you, we are passionate about Pok\u00e9mon and each and every one of them is very important to us. After so many years of developing the Pok\u00e9mon video games, this was a very difficult decision for me. I’d like to make one thing clear: even if a specific Pok\u00e9mon is not available in Pok\u00e9mon Sword<\/em> and Pok\u00e9mon Shield<\/em>, that does not mean it will not appear in future games.<\/p>\n

The world of Pok\u00e9mon continues to evolve. The Galar region offers new Pok\u00e9mon to encounter, Trainers to battle, and adventures to embark on. We are pouring our hearts into these games, and we hope you will look forward to joining us on this new journey.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As noted, if a specific Pok\u00e9mon doesn’t make the cut in Sword and Shield, it doesn’t mean it won’t return in future games. Despite the removal of certain pocket monsters in the latest outing, the Galar region still promises to surprise trainers with new Pok\u00e9mon, adventures and battles.<\/p>\n
