After the initial ten games were announced, Sega surprised us all with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/06\/the_mega_drive_mini_ships_with_a_version_of_tetris_we_were_never_meant_to_play\">two extra games<\/a> on the system (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/06\/a_totally_exclusive_port_of_darius_is_coming_to_the_mega_drive_mini\">also coming to the west<\/a>), but the surprises didn&#8217;t stop there.<\/p>\n<p>With hype reaching dangerous levels for fans the world over, the presenters proceeded to pull out a miniature Mega CD (or Sega CD, if you prefer):<\/p>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"MegaCD\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/27926ca7eebd0\/megacd.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/27926ca7eebd0\/megacd.900x.jpg\" alt=\"MegaCD\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>This was swiftly followed by a mini 32X, plus a mini <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/megadrive\/sonic_and_knuckles\">Sonic &amp; Knuckles<\/a><\/strong>-style lock-on connecting cartridge and a normal cart:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"MegaTower\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/bd0449a550f7b\/megatower.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/bd0449a550f7b\/megatower.900x.jpg\" alt=\"MegaTower\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Calm down, though &#8211; these are not functioning miniature consoles and carts in their own right. Unfortunately, they&#8217;re only cosmetic items enabling you to build your own tower of peripherals.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"MiniTower2\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/5dbeb0a022fd0\/minitower2.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/5dbeb0a022fd0\/minitower2.900x.jpg\" alt=\"MiniTower2\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>It seems that very few people knew about these surprise little extras, including the good folks at M2 who developed the emulation software running in the console:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"M2\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/aec99e2483fdd\/m2.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/aec99e2483fdd\/m2.original.png\" alt=\"M2\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>The exact manner in which you can get your hands on this tantalising Sega stack is a little unclear due to our Japanese being a <em>bit<\/em> rusty. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.famitsu.com\/news\/201906\/04177339.html\">According to Famitsu<\/a>, the &#8216;Mega Drive Mini Decoration Kit&#8217; will be released with the console on 19th September, but we&#8217;ll get more details in the coming days &#8211; rest assured, we&#8217;ll update this article the moment we know.
