When you boot up these other versions of the game, you&#8217;re greeted with a beautiful opening cinematic of Sonic and the gang speeding around a track.<\/p>\n<p>In the Switch release, this cutscene is noticeably absent. The reason for this, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/05\/hang_on_why_is_team_sonic_racings_opening_movie_missing_on_switch\">previously suspected<\/a>, is tied to the space available on the game card. In a statement provided to US Gamer, the game&#8217;s publisher Sega confirmed the cart size was the reason the cinematic was not present in the Switch release and said there were no plans to add it in later down the line:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The intro cutscene was removed from Switch build of Team Sonic Racing due to the cartridge size restrictions. At this time, there are no plans to add the cutscene back in via patch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendo.com\/games\/detail\/team-sonic-racing-switch\/\">Nintendo website<\/a>, the file size for Team Sonic Racing is 6.6GB. Keeping the game under 8GB meant Sega didn&#8217;t have to fork out the extra coin for a bigger game card. Therefore, it makes a lot of sense to leave the opening cutscene out and save on space.<\/p>\n<p>As it is only a cinematic, it&#8217;s easy enough to watch online.
