We want to give them an opportunity to make their own game.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8211; Platinum Games&#8217; Atsushi\u00a0Inaba\u00a0on why he wants\u00a0to work on self-publishing original IPs<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/b\/features\/archive\/2017\/12\/27\/platinum-games-atsushi-inaba-talks-style-substance-and-strategy.aspx\">During an interview with Game Informer<\/a>, Platinum Games&#8217; head of development Atsushi Inaba\u00a0expressed his interest in making a completely original game, saying,\u00a0&#8220;We\u2019re becoming more and more interested in the idea of self-publishing and doing our own title.&#8221; Inaba\u00a0mentions how up\u00a0until recently, the team had worked on properties for a variety\u00a0of different publishers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked what the process of self-publishing would look like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/b\/features\/archive\/2017\/12\/27\/platinum-games-atsushi-inaba-talks-style-substance-and-strategy.aspx\">Inaba described\u00a0<\/a>how over the past year, &#8220;We\u2019ve pretty much opened the company up to &#8216;Anybody can pitch a game,&#8217;\u00a0and so over the last year we\u2019ve gotten about 70 design documents from different people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So this year has been about us basically diluting which stuff we wanted to focus on and not focus on, and drilling down to the point where we now have two designs that we\u2019re genuinely focused on,&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/Over%20the%20last%20year%20weave%20pretty%20much%20opened%20the%20company%20up%20to%20eAnybody%20can%20pitch%20a%20game,e%20and%20so%20over%20the%20last%20year%20weave%20gotten%20about%2070%20design%20documents%20from%20different%20people.\">Inaba explains.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the desire to create a game the entire team is motivated to work on comes with its challenges, especially when opening up the floor for pitches.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That being said, if you\u2019re going to put 20 people on the development, it has to be something that\u2019s on brand and on topic, and obviously when people think of the Platinum Games brand, they expect crazy hardcore action, right,&#8221; Inaba\u00a0says. &#8220;We have to be reticent of that.
