{"id":87802,"date":"2019-03-11T19:51:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T19:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/338408"},"modified":"2019-03-11T19:51:00","modified_gmt":"2019-03-11T19:51:00","slug":"adobe-is-ending-shockwave-player-support-april-9th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2019\/03\/11\/adobe-is-ending-shockwave-player-support-april-9th\/","title":{"rendered":"Adobe is ending Shockwave Player support April 9th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Adobe announced <a href=\"https:\/\/helpx.adobe.com\/shockwave\/shockwave-end-of-life-faq.html\">earlier today<\/a> that Shockwave will be discontinued, and the Shockwave player for&nbsp;Windows will no longer be available to download&nbsp;after April 9.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This news follows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/302418\/Adobe_to_end_Flash_support_in_2020.php\">Adobe&#8217;s decision<\/a>&nbsp;to end Flash support in 2020, pushing developers to wean their projects&nbsp;from the plugin and move&nbsp;on to newer tech in order to maintain&nbsp;support for their browser-based&nbsp;games.<\/p>\n<p>Similar to Flash, Shockwave supported&nbsp;many browser-based games hosted&nbsp;on the Internet&nbsp;during the early 2000s.
