With news that Reggie Fils-Aim\u00e9 is to step down<\/a> from his role as President of Nintendo of America, his successor \u2013 Mr Doug Bowser \u2013 was probably prepared for the deluge of familiar headlines to flood the web.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s been on the radar of Nintendo fans for a while now \u2013 with that<\/em> surname<\/a> it would be difficult to hold a senior position at the company and go unnoticed for long \u2013 but beyond the circus, Nintendo\u2019s current Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing is something of an enigma to fans. Despite being in the spotlight alongside Reggie for the past four years, the gravity of the big man\u2019s ever-ready body is such that he draws attention from those around him, even from the man who\u2019s been shadowing him since joining the company in 2015.<\/p>\n

Well, Reggie\u2019s surprise retirement means we\u2019ve got some catching up to do. Bowser makes for a fun headline, sure, but we know very little else about the man. While it\u2019s unlikely he could knock Billy Mitchell<\/a>, the former King of Kong, down a peg, it shows he\u2019s keen to demonstrate his knowledge of Nintendo\u2019s long history, right back to the company\u2019s very first arcade games.<\/p>\n
