The premium $500 price, though, meant it was destined for the serious enthusiast market only. Its follow up, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2017\/06\/hardware_review_the_analogue_nt_mini_isnt_just_the_best_nes_clone_its_much_more_besides\">Analogue Nt Mini<\/a>, trimmed a couple of features but came in at a far more realistic pricepoint for the average gamer.<\/p>\n<p>Then followed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/02\/hardware_review_the_analogue_super_nt_is_the_ultimate_way_to_play_snes_games_in_2018\">Analogue Super Nt<\/a>, doing for the 16-bit SNES what it had done for the console&#8217;s predecessor. Every console also came with an extra special gift &#8211; an exclusive Director&#8217;s Cut of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/snes\/super_turrican\">Super Turrican<\/a><\/strong> featuring material that had to be cut from the original cartridge due to memory restrictions. With the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/10\/feature_the_console_wars_are_back_with_the_analogue_mega_sg_the_first_fpga_sega_console\">Analogue Mega Sg<\/a> &#8211; an equivalent modern interpretation of Sega&#8217;s Mega Drive\/Genesis &#8211; fans were hoping there&#8217;d be a similar present awaiting them on the new console.<\/p>\n<p>From the look of that trailer, they&#8217;re not going to be disappointed! The company posted the above video showing off <strong>Hardcore<\/strong>, a run-and-gun shooter from Digital Illusions (or DICE as they&#8217;re better known) that was cancelled in 1994 in a 99% complete state. Apparently the only known source code came from &#8220;a single, dead hard drive that was barely recovered&#8221;.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"HARDCORE\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/d41078d9f1a8c\/hardcore.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/d41078d9f1a8c\/hardcore.900x.jpg\" alt=\"HARDCORE\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Analogue go on to describe the game thusly:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Hardcore is a fast paced, euro-style run&#8217;n&#8217;gun, space base thriller. We&#8217;re dedicated to preserving this piece of video game history and Hardcore is included digitally on each Mega Sg system.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The game will go by the name <strong>Ultracore<\/strong> &#8216;due to licensing reasons&#8217;, but whatever it&#8217;s called, it looks absolutely terrific. It&#8217;ll be a treat to tuck into a game <em>from the era<\/em> &#8211; not a remake, not an homage; a genuine 25-year-old Mega Drive game that had been &#8216;lost&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The console is on pre-order for $189.99 from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.analogue.co\/store\/\">Analogue&#8217;s website<\/a> and is scheduled to ship in April.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"Analogue Mega Sg.original\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/f6a2ddcb3653f\/analogue-mega-sg-original.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/f6a2ddcb3653f\/analogue-mega-sg-original.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Analogue Mega Sg.original\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p><em>As you can probably tell, we&#8217;re quite excited &#8211; it&#8217;d be a massive shame if the game turns out to be rubbish!
