Due to French labor laws, an estimated 400 employees at Blizzard’s Versailles, France location could be\u00a0left waiting\u00a0for months to see if they’ve lost their jobs or not.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This news follows the massive layoffs that hit Activision Blizzard employees earlier in the week<\/a>, leaving an estimated 8 percent of people without a job.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, there’s an updated document<\/a> of studios currently hiring for those affected.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As reported by Kotaku<\/a>,\u00a0Blizzard\u2019s French office told its staff on Wednesday that 134 of its 400 positions would be eliminated.<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting that this doesn’t necessarily\u00a0mean Blizzard will lay off 134 people, as\u00a0some employees\u00a0might be given opportunities\u00a0across the company’s\u00a0other European offices in Cork, Ireland or The Hague, Netherlands.<\/p>\n

However, it’s still not a great position to be put in, especially for those\u00a0who can\u2019t (or have no desire) to\u00a0move to a new country.<\/p>\n

In addition, complicated French labor laws make it difficult to lay people off immediately and without notification, putting Blizzard\u2019s Versailles office (which handles PR, esports, localization, customer support, and marketing for their games in Europe) in this position.<\/p>\n

As of right now, employees still don’t know which positions will be eliminated, who’s affected, what kind of severance package they’ll receive, or even\u00a0when\u00a0<\/em>they’ll find out if their jobs are safe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
