I was so honored to share these updates on behalf of the entire team live in 2 back-to-back episodes of\u00a0<\/span><em><span>What\u2019s New\u00a0<\/span><\/em><em><span>in<\/span><\/em><em><span>\u00a0Edu<\/span><\/em><span>.\u00a0<\/span><span>C<\/span><span>heck out\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/educationblog.microsoft.com\/2019\/01\/whats-new-in-edu-bett-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span>part 1<\/span><\/strong><\/a><strong><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span>and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/educationblog.microsoft.com\/2019\/01\/whats-new-in-edu-live-bett-day-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span>part 2<\/span><\/strong><\/a><span>\u00a0of these Bett edition episodes<\/span><span>. Grade Sync\u00a0<\/strong><strong>to connect Teams to your SIS!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Say hello to Grade Sync, which automatically sends grades from Teams\u00a0Assignments directly to\u00a0your\u00a0Student Information System, saving\u00a0teachers\u00a0lots\u00a0of time.\u00a0Grade Sync will be coming to systems like\u00a0PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Capita SIMS and many others soon.\u00a0If you would like to join the Grade Sync preview release,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=v4j5cvGGr0GRqy180BHbR4J5wnCyleFEtAlrf2AH_wNUREQ0VkJNNjBaRERPQTRKSkcyRTlKSTRQTi4u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\">sign up here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Mobile grading<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You asked and we answered. Turnitin integration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Turnitin\u00a0allows teachers\u00a0to check\u00a0student submissions\u00a0for multiple forms of plagiarism and helps teach the value of academic integrity, proper attribution, and authentic writing. Free Computer Science Curriculum in Teams with MakeCode!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll soon kick off a beta which will allow\u00a0teachers to access\u00a0MakeCode,\u00a0Microsoft\u2019s free platform for creating engaging computer science activities\u00a0directly within Teams Assignments.\u00a0Teachers can help students get started building their own programs using drag-and-drop block coding or JavaScript. For schools using Moodle, the integration in Teams helps educators bring their students, conversations and content \u2014 along with their Moodle courses and assignments \u2014 together in one single hub. This integration offers two core experiences the Moodle tab and the Moodle Assistant Bot. Read-only files folder, Class Materials coming to your team soon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Microsoft Teams is great for collaborating with your class, including sharing reference materials to help guide students. You can easily drop these files into the folder called \u2018Class Materials,\u2019 which is read-only by default.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gxcuf89792.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/71187i90B5236878D148D2\/image-size\/large?v=1.0&amp;px=999\" alt=\"teams-read-only.jpg\" title=\"teams-read-only.jpg\" class=\"lazyload lia-media-image\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gxcuf89792.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/71187i90B5236878D148D2\/image-size\/large?v=1.0&amp;px=999\" alt=\"teams-read-only.jpg\" title=\"teams-read-only.jpg\" class=\"lia-media-image\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Join a team by code on your mobile device<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Joining a team with a code has become a popular way for students to join their classes on Teams. We\u2019ve now added this ability to the Teams app on iOS and Android.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. Customize chat settings for students and faculty<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In talking to educators using Teams, we\u2019ve learned a common request is to allow student-to-teacher chat, while also having the option to prevent students from chatting with each other. IT Admins can\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoftteams\/teams-scoped-directory-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\">learn how to set this up here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Rubric sharing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We recently launched\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/educationblog.microsoft.com\/2018\/08\/back-to-school-microsoft-teams-new-features\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\">rubric grading inside Microsoft Teams<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and we\u2019ve heard so much of your great feedback on the feature already. We\u2019ve now added a new capability that allows teachers to import and export their favorite rubrics from Teams Assignments. Now you can share great rubrics with other teachers and build on each other\u2019s ideas from year to year, for stronger and more robust curricula. Categorize your Assignments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Teachers can now categorize Assignments. Assignment categories are an easy way to organize your assignment by type \u2013 segment by Homework, Quizzes, or a unit of study.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gxcuf89792.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/71383i4E13E61FA7BB1F5F\/image-size\/large?v=1.0&amp;px=999\" alt=\"add-category-teams.png\" title=\"add-category-teams.png\" class=\"lazyload lia-media-image\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gxcuf89792.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/71383i4E13E61FA7BB1F5F\/image-size\/large?v=1.0&amp;px=999\" alt=\"add-category-teams.png\" title=\"add-category-teams.png\" class=\"lia-media-image\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>12. Safari browser support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By popular demand \u2013 you will soon be able to use Microsoft Teams on macOS and iPad with Safari!<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. Access ThingLink right from Microsoft Teams<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With ThingLink now built into Microsoft Teams, students will be able\u00a0to create and view interactive images, videos and 360-degree virtual tours in the Microsoft Teams environment.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinglink.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noopener noreferrer\">ThingLink<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0technology is especially useful in the education space because it lets teachers build interactive, visual learning experiences and multimedia presentations, which can help develop vocabulary and contextual understanding in technical education, science and social studies.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gxcuf89792.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/71189i21FFD6E5660D6039\/image-size\/large?v=1.0&amp;px=999\" alt=\"ThingLink-Teams-app.jpg\" title=\"ThingLink-Teams-app.jpg\" class=\"lazyload lia-media-image\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gxcuf89792.i.lithium.com\/t5\/image\/serverpage\/image-id\/71189i21FFD6E5660D6039\/image-size\/large?v=1.0&amp;px=999\" alt=\"ThingLink-Teams-app.jpg\" title=\"ThingLink-Teams-app.jpg\" class=\"lia-media-image\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students can use ThingLink to document their learning with interactive maps, infographics, presentations, and virtual 360-degree tours that combine multiple forms of media: text, images, sound, and video. ThingLink offers teachers free basic accounts, as well as paid school and eLearning accounts with a virtual tour creator. Microsoft Office 365 users can get a free 14-day access to ThingLink\u2019s Premium teacher and business subscriptions via the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/appsource.microsoft.com\/en-us\/product\/web-apps\/thinglink.thinglink_for_education?src=manufacturing&amp;tab=Overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft AppSource marketplace<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Once again we could never thank the rockstar educators in our community enough for sharing such amazing ideas and feedback with us.
