Should you?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a deceptively simple question, one that will be unpacked and examined by a pair of veteran game makers at the 2019\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gdconf.com\/?_mc=blog_x_gama_le_x_gdcsf_x_x-GDC19\">Game Developers Conference<\/a>\u00a0this March.<\/p>\n<p>In a special <a href=\"https:\/\/gdconf.com\/summit\/independent-games\">Independent Games Summit<\/a> talk, game makers\u00a0Zach Gage (<em>Pocket-run Pool<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Really Bad Chess<\/em>)\u00a0and Bennett Foddy\u00a0(<em>Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy<\/em>) will be presenting (appropriately enough) &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/schedule.gdconf.com\/session\/put-your-name-on-your-game-a-talk-by-span-classhighlightbennettspan-foddy-and-zach-gage\/862163\">Put Your Name on Your Game, a Talk by Bennett Foddy and Zach Gage<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Their premise is simple:\u00a0 Unlike actors, musicians, intellectuals, painters, poets, writers, directors, and producers, game designers often publish behind the anonymity of a company, even when working alone. Why do they do this? Where did this norm come from? Who benefits from this situation? And why should it be changed?<\/p>\n<p>This is a good talk to see, especially if you&#8217;re lucky enough to have control over how you&#8217;re credited in the work you produce.
