{"id":78458,"date":"2019-01-25T20:53:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T20:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/335220"},"modified":"2019-01-25T20:53:00","modified_gmt":"2019-01-25T20:53:00","slug":"ubisoft-will-modify-assassins-creed-odyssey-dlc-following-feedback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2019\/01\/25\/ubisoft-will-modify-assassins-creed-odyssey-dlc-following-feedback\/","title":{"rendered":"Ubisoft will modify Assassin&#8217;s Creed Odyssey DLC following feedback"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ubisoft\u00a0has announced that it&#8217;s making changes to the controversial <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Odyssey<\/em> DLC which came under fire recently.<\/p>\n<p>This follows the apology Ubisoft issued <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/334647\/Ubisoft_issues_apology_for_controversial_Assassins_Creed_Odyssey_DLC.php\">last week<\/a>\u00a0regarding the DLC, which\u00a0presented a mandatory in-game relationship rendering any\u00a0romantic decisions the player made (whether to pursue relationships with men or women regardless of playing as Alexios or Kassandra) null.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The content of the DLC was initially going to remain unchanged, but an <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.ubi.com\/showthread.php\/1984274-SPOILER-DLC-1-2-Production-Update?p=13900222#post13900222\">updated forum post<\/a>\u00a0seems to indicate a shift in direction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After hearing player feedback and discussing within the development team we are making changes to a cutscene and some dialogue in Shadow Heritage to better reflect the nature of the relationship for players selecting a non-romantic storyline,&#8221; the post reads.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These changes, along with renaming a trophy\/achievement, are being made now and will be implemented in an upcoming patch. We\u2019ve also been carefully looking at the next episode, Bloodline, to ensure the paths that players experience mirror the choices they make in game.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that the player-character is still locked into the decisions of the DLC, but the language around the event\u00a0is being changed, as well as the nature of the relationship. Still, it&#8217;s a welcome improvement that the community seems to be content with.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Additionally, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has also made a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.glaad.org\/blog\/odyssey-progress-nomination-assassins-creed-glaad-media-award\">separate post addressing concerns<\/a>\u00a0over the DLC, explaining\u00a0that it has been in communication with Ubisoft about the DLC.<\/p>\n<p>This comes in response to <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Odyssey&#8217;s<\/em> nomination for the Outstanding Video Game award, a category that seeks to celebrate interactive experiences that include authentic and impactful LGBTQ characters or storylines.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ubisoft\u00a0has announced that it&#8217;s making changes to the controversial Assassin&#8217;s Creed Odyssey DLC which came under fire recently.
