Some craziness on it.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 Creative director of Ubisoft\u00a0Milan\u00a0Davide Soliani on pitching original\u00a0ideas to Nintendo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.develop-online.net\/analysis\/ubisoft-milan-and-playing-with-ip\/0238306\">In a recent interview<\/a>, Ubisoft Milan&#8217;s managing director Dario Migliavacca and creative director Davide Soliani\u00a0discussed their experience working with Nintendo on <em>Mario + Rabbids\u00a0Kingdom Battle.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Migliavacca\u00a0and Soliani mention their collaboration with Nintendo, citing how generating new ideas for a title with an established IP relies a lot on developers\u00a0taking risks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Their prompt was pretty open ended, as Migliavacca\u00a0recalls:\u00a0&#8220;It started with a very simple mandate. We had to propose a concept with\u00a0<em>Mario<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Rabbids<\/em>, that\u2019s all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to Soliani, the challenge of pitching something original\u00a0to Nintendo was daunting, saying\u00a0that &#8220;It\u2019s always better to dare. Worst case scenario, they say no. But at the same time they want to be surprised. Otherwise they will make the game themselves. So they really want you to try.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sharing his ideas directly to Miyamoto\u00a0was a challenge as well, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.develop-online.net\/analysis\/ubisoft-milan-and-playing-with-ip\/0238306\">says Soliani<\/a>. &#8220;Knowing that he was expecting something that would surprise him, it\u2019s not so easy to live with.
