First, he was revealed as an assist trophy during the latest <a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/super_smash_bros_ultimate\"><strong>Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/strong><\/a> Direct, and now, developer Dan Fornace is adding him to his own competitive brawler, <strong>Rivals of Aether<\/strong>. The iconic character &#8211; armed with only a shovel &#8211; appears to be the unofficial\u00a0face of indie games.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you take a look at the trailer above, you\u2019ll see Shovel Knight has all of his signature moves at his disposal including digging, fishing, and\u00a0even shopping. Previously he&#8217;s been featured in <strong>Indie Pogo<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/blade_strangers\">Blade Strangers<\/a><\/strong>. His arrival in Rivals of Aether makes this his fourth recent appearance in a fighting game.<\/p>\n<p>As exciting as the latest reveal is, the main problem here is Rivals of Aether is currently not available on the Nintendo Switch. <a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/01\/smash-style_brawler_rivals_of_aether_is_headed_to_switch\">Earlier this year<\/a>, Fornace said Switch development was being prioritised &#8211; with the aim to find developers who could help port the game out of Game Maker Studio. Perhaps the recent news about GameMaker Studio 2 being <a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/08\/over_1000_developers_want_to_bring_games_to_switch_using_gamemaker_studio_2_engine\">licensed<\/a> for use with the Nintendo Switch will make this process easier.<\/p>\n<p><em>What do you think about Shovel Knight doing the rounds in all of these competitive fighting games?
