After Indiegogo\u00a0announced back in June<\/a> that it would\u00a0be working with debt collectors\u00a0to recoup funds disbursed for those who backed\u00a0Retro Computers’ Sinclair ZX Vega+ project, it seems that\u00a0some backers have finally started\u00a0to receive their consoles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Indiegogo\u00a0initially gave Retro Computers\u00a0an\u00a0“end-of-May” 2018 deadline before initiating\u00a0debt collection procedures in an attempt to hold the company responsible for giving backers what was promised<\/a> — the Vega+ handheld console.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Retro Computers\u00a0wrote\u00a0on May 22<\/a>\u00a0that it “estimated to ship the first batch of Vega+ units by the 15th\u00a0June 2018” and while\u00a0that deadline has passed, Eurogamer reports<\/a> that backers who have<\/em> received the Vega+ are less than enthused by the product.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On July 6, Retro Computers posted that it was in the process of reaching out to\u00a0backers who had opted for the “Blankety Blank” version of the Vega+, which would ship without\u00a0any of the previously advertised games loaded onto it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The company went on to confirm that an initial batch of 400 units were shipped to “Blankety Blank” backers on July 26. While Retro Computers technically delivered on this promise, backers who have received their Vega+ consoles aren’t entirely satisfied.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One backer, Craig Wootton, posted a video to\u00a0YouTube<\/a> showcasing the console.\u00a0“Sadly, I’ve been left quite disappointed […] with the way they’ve supplied it to me,” he says.<\/p>\n

He goes on to highlight\u00a0the lack of protective packaging, and the fact that the few supplied\u00a0games don’t work with the console’s buttons straight out of the box<\/p>\n

While the “Blankety\u00a0Blank” units have shipped, it’s still unclear when the version of the Vega+ with the promised\u00a01,000 pre-installed games will be made available to\u00a0backers.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
