{"id":36811,"date":"2018-07-31T20:51:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T20:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/323360"},"modified":"2018-07-31T20:51:00","modified_gmt":"2018-07-31T20:51:00","slug":"the-sinclair-zx-vega-is-finally-being-shipped-to-indiegogo-backers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2018\/07\/31\/the-sinclair-zx-vega-is-finally-being-shipped-to-indiegogo-backers\/","title":{"rendered":"The Sinclair ZX Vega+ is finally being shipped to Indiegogo backers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After Indiegogo\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/319503\/Indiegogo_working_with_debt_collectors_to_refund_Sinclair_ZX_Vega_backers.php\">announced back in June<\/a> that it would\u00a0be working with debt collectors\u00a0to recoup funds disbursed for those who backed\u00a0Retro Computers&#8217; Sinclair ZX Vega+ project, it seems that\u00a0some backers have finally started\u00a0to receive their consoles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Indiegogo\u00a0initially gave Retro Computers\u00a0an\u00a0&#8220;end-of-May&#8221; 2018 deadline before initiating\u00a0debt collection procedures in an attempt to hold the company responsible for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/293376\/Indiegogo_halts_Sinclair_ZX_Spectrum_Vega_crowdfunding_campaign.php\">giving backers what was promised<\/a> &#8212; the Vega+ handheld console.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Retro Computers\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiegogo.com\/projects\/the-sinclair-zx-spectrum-vega-plus-console#\/updates\/all\">wrote\u00a0on May 22<\/a>\u00a0that it &#8220;estimated to ship the first batch of Vega+ units by the 15th\u00a0June 2018&#8221; and while\u00a0that deadline has passed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/articles\/2018-07-30-backers-have-started-to-receive-the-beleaguered-zx-spectrum-vega-plus-but-early-impressions-arent-great\">Eurogamer reports<\/a> that backers who <em>have<\/em> received the Vega+ are less than enthused by the product.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On July 6, Retro Computers posted that it was in the process of reaching out to\u00a0backers who had opted for the &#8220;Blankety Blank&#8221; version of the Vega+, which would ship without\u00a0any of the previously advertised games loaded onto it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company went on to confirm that an initial batch of 400 units were shipped to &#8220;Blankety Blank&#8221; backers on July 26.
