If players are temporarily banned first, they may be\u00a0more likely to change their ways if\u00a0they don\u2019t want to lose\u00a0progress.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As outlined in <a href=\"https:\/\/support.pokemongo.nianticlabs.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360001743487-Three-Strike-Discipline-Policy\">Niantic&#8217;s\u00a0recent blog post,<\/a> the three-strike policy defines cheating as any action that violates the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nianticlabs.com\/terms\/pokemongo\/\">Terms of Service<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.pokemongo.nianticlabs.com\/hc\/articles\/221993967\">Trainer Guidelines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This includes\u00a0falsifying GPS locations and accessing\u00a0<em>Pok\u00e9mon GO<\/em> clients or backends in an unauthorized manner\u00a0through the use of third party software.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Niantic\u00a0offers first time offenders an opportunity to reform after being issued\u00a0a strike, which serves as a warning.
