{"id":3301,"date":"2017-10-24T18:10:00","date_gmt":"2017-10-24T18:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/308222"},"modified":"2017-10-24T18:10:00","modified_gmt":"2017-10-24T18:10:00","slug":"board-game-company-fantasy-flight-games-opens-video-game-studio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2017\/10\/24\/board-game-company-fantasy-flight-games-opens-video-game-studio\/","title":{"rendered":"Board game company Fantasy Flight Games opens video game studio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The long-running board game company Fantasy Flight Games has opened a new studio to focus on developing games of a more digital nature.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new studio, Fantasy Flight Interactive, is set to be headed up by former Human Head CEO Tim Gerritsen and will take on the tasks of both adapting the board game publisher\u2019s existing games as video games and creating entirely new games based on Fantasy Flight\u2019s existing properties.<\/p>\n<p>While Fantasy Flight Games will continue to dabble in board games with a digital element, the studio notes that its new interactive branch will focus on purely digital projects for Steam and potentially other platforms down the line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The crossover between video game and board game design is one of the topics covered in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/302066\/Altering_player_perception_is_a_powerful_design_tool_says_XWing_Miniatures_dev.php\">Gamasutra interview with Fantasy Flight Games<\/a> earlier this year.
