SMG Studios &#8211; a local developer behind <a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/death_squared\"><strong>Death Squared<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; has revealed it sold 52,000 copies of the game in its first year on the Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n<p>Even though this amount might not seem impressive in contrast to other sales on the eShop, the team at SMG is more than happy &#8211; explaining how the Switch release has helped increase its overall revenue.<\/p>\n<p>While this title has not had the same breakout success as the\u00a0fellow Australian-made game, <a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/hollow_knight\"><strong>Hollow Knight<\/strong><\/a>, it at least illustrates the possible financial gain for smaller developers who are willing to take a chance with Nintendo&#8217;s latest system.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Reggie Fils-Aime <a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/06\/hollow_knight_sold_over_a_quarter_of_a_million_copies_on_switch_in_two_weeks\">revealed<\/a> Hollow Knight had shifted over 250,000 copies within the first two weeks of its release on the Switch.
