{"id":3121,"date":"2017-10-20T22:26:00","date_gmt":"2017-10-20T22:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/308050"},"modified":"2017-10-20T22:26:00","modified_gmt":"2017-10-20T22:26:00","slug":"twitch-taps-dustforce-dev-to-make-a-game-played-inside-twitch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2017\/10\/20\/twitch-taps-dustforce-dev-to-make-a-game-played-inside-twitch\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitch taps Dustforce dev to make a game played inside Twitch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The team at Twitch are hosting their annual TwitchCon event in Long Beach this weekend, and to generate hype\u00a0they cut a deal with Hitbox Team (<em>Dustforce, Spire<\/em>) to <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitch.tv\/shall-we-play-a-game-at-twitchcon-c09c864de64f\">build a multiplayer game<\/a> that&#8217;s played\u00a0entirely\u00a0<em>within\u00a0<\/em>the Twitch client.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a prominent,\u00a0interesting example of what a game dev can\u00a0do with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/304946\/Twitch_introduces_Extensions_suite_to_help_foster_engagement.php\">Extensions toolset Twitch introduced<\/a> last month, which allows streamers to embed interactive elements (like a dynamic stat-tracking overlay or a live polling system) into their broadcasts.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, Twitch and Hitbox seem focused on keeping viewers engaged by giving them a small multiplayer game to play\u00a0as various talks and panels are broadcast live from TwitchCon throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The game, <em>Galactic Disagreements<\/em> (aka <em>GalDis<\/em>), assigns players to two teams at random and then asks them to overpower the opposing team by acquiring resources and launching ships.
