Following the completion of its first\u00a0game jam last year<\/a>, the Anti-Defamation League’s\u00a0Center for Technology and Society team (CTS) is collaborating with the Global Game Jam and\u00a0NYU’s Game Center to mobilize\u00a0games to fight hate and bias.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In an effort to collaborate more directly with\u00a0the development\u00a0community, the CTS is partnering with the\u00a0Global Game Jam\u00a0to expand its game jam from 2017<\/a>, where over 20 games were created to embody anti-bias and anti-bullying themes. Another game jam will be held this year, although no dates have been released yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Adding to its mission statement, The CTS is also collaborating with\u00a0NYU\u2019s Game Center\u00a0to create a semester-long course in Fall 2018, which will incorporate\u00a0ADL\u2019s work into new game related media designed for impact.<\/p>\n

The ADL will also be working with the\u00a0International Game Developer\u2019s Association (IGDA)\u00a0to create new, developer focused programming to fight hate and bias in the game community as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With these new partnerships in place it seems the ADL hopes to see an improvement\u00a0against the\u00a0continuous problems with hate and harassment seen within the games community after GamerGate<\/a>, citing a desire to\u00a0make games better use them as a method to reduce hate and bias.<\/p>\n
