{"id":19999,"date":"2018-05-10T19:51:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-10T19:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/317942"},"modified":"2018-05-10T19:51:00","modified_gmt":"2018-05-10T19:51:00","slug":"nexon-doubles-revenue-in-us-following-pixelberry-acquisition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2018\/05\/10\/nexon-doubles-revenue-in-us-following-pixelberry-acquisition\/","title":{"rendered":"Nexon doubles revenue in US following Pixelberry acquisition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nexon published its <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.nexon.co.jp\/en\/library\/pdf\/20180510_2.pdf\">latest financial results\u00a0earlier today<\/a>, showing an overall increase in profits due\u00a0to\u00a0steady sales of popular mobile titles\u00a0in North America, China, and Korea.<\/p>\n<p>For the full fiscal year ending\u00a0March 31, Nexon earned \u00a590.5 billion (~$825 million) in revenue, up 21 percent over the\u00a0past\u00a0fiscal year, and saw net income\u00a0increase by 134\u00a0percent year-over-year to \u00a546.6 billion (~$425 million).<\/p>\n<p>In North America\u00a0revenues increased 155 percent to \u00a55.4 billion (~$49 million) year-over-year, thanks to\u00a0contributions\u00a0from <em>Choices: Stories You Play<\/em>, a mobile game\u00a0developed\u00a0by\u00a0Pixelberry Studios, which Nexon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/309360\/Nexon_snaps_up_High_School_Story_game_dev_Pixelberry_Studios.php\">acquired last quarter.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company experienced\u00a0revenue growth in China as well, after releasing content updates and item sales for its online PC game <em>Dungeon&amp;Fighter<\/em> during Lunar New Year. However\u00a0Korea\u00a0saw a growth in revenue up 21 percent to \u00a581.8 billion (~$745 million), driven by sales of mobile titles like <em>OVERHIT<\/em>, <em>AxE<\/em>, <em>Yulhyulgangho M<\/em>,\u00a0and <em>Durango: Wild Lands<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have multiple titles launching in Korea such as <em>EA Sports FIFA Online 4<\/em>, ten mobile titles in Japan including <em>Overhit<\/em>\u00a0and <em>Gigant\u00a0Shock<\/em>\u00a0in 2018, and <em>Durango: Wild Lands<\/em>, <em>Darkness Rises<\/em> and <em>MapleStory M<\/em> for international services,&#8221; says Nexon\u00a0CEO Owen Mahoney in regard to Nexon&#8217;s\u00a0next steps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/nexon-doubles-revenue-in-us-following-pixelberry-acquisition.png\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nexon published its latest financial results\u00a0earlier today, showing an overall increase in profits due\u00a0to\u00a0steady sales of popular mobile titles\u00a0in North America, China, and Korea.
