{"id":19244,"date":"2018-05-03T18:45:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-03T18:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/317557"},"modified":"2018-05-03T18:45:00","modified_gmt":"2018-05-03T18:45:00","slug":"madden-nfl-creative-director-rex-dickson-departs-ea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2018\/05\/03\/madden-nfl-creative-director-rex-dickson-departs-ea\/","title":{"rendered":"Madden NFL creative director Rex Dickson departs EA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After over a decade with Electronic Arts, <em>Madden NFL<\/em> creative director Rex Dickson has departed both <em>Madden NFL<\/em> dev EA Tiburon and EA itself.<\/p>\n<p>Dickson made his departure official in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Rex_Dickson_\/status\/991867923764428800\">statement delivered over Twitter<\/a>, noting that the decision was made after he and other studio leaders decided it \u201cwas the best path forward for everyone involved\u201d and will allow the <em>Madden<\/em> franchise a chance to move in a \u201cnew direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dickson spent the past six years as creative director on the <em>Madden NFL<\/em> franchise, and all-together has spent 12 years at EA working on games in the <em>Madden<\/em> and <em>Medal of Honor<\/em> series.\u00a0 Outside of his Electronic Arts years, Dickson has also served in design roles at THQ, The Collective, and Acclaim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI leave behind a team that includes player-first advocates like Clint Oldenburg, RG, Jake Stein, John White, Kraelo, and many others. A community that includes leaders like Problem, Mr. GoldenSports, Zan, Litez, and iMav (to name just a few),&#8221; wrote Dickson.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am filled with hope when I think about the passion of those who will pick up the flag and fight on for the future of the <em>Madden<\/em>\u00a0franchise. Working on the <em>Madden NFL f<\/em>ranchise was a lifelong dream realized.
