{"id":18918,"date":"2018-04-30T17:53:00","date_gmt":"2018-04-30T17:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/317315"},"modified":"2018-04-30T17:53:00","modified_gmt":"2018-04-30T17:53:00","slug":"techland-picks-up-call-of-juarez-publishing-rights-from-ubisoft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2018\/04\/30\/techland-picks-up-call-of-juarez-publishing-rights-from-ubisoft\/","title":{"rendered":"Techland picks up Call of Juarez publishing rights from Ubisoft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Publishing rights for the <em>Call of Juarez<\/em> series have transferred ownership, jumping from Ubisoft to the game\u2019s original developer Techland.<\/p>\n<p>While the transfer looks to be a natural\u00a0result of the years-long publishing agreement signed by the two companies, the <em>Call of Juarez<\/em> rights notably come to Techland as the company itself is in the early years of making a name for\u00a0its own publishing branch, Techland Publishing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The ownership shift follows the temporary delisting of <em>Call of Juarez: The Carte<\/em>l and <em>Call of Juarez: Gunslinger<\/em> from many online marketplaces, an event that generated a fair amount of buzz last month but was ultimately revealed to be because of the then-upcoming publisher switch. While Techland&#8217;s\u00a0current announcement centers around\u00a0<em>Gunslinger,\u00a0<\/em>the developer-turned-publisher notes that information about other games in the series will be released in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeveloped by Techland, the <em>Call of Juarez<\/em> series received a great reception and support from a huge community of players. As Techland Publishing moves forward as a leading publisher, we are delighted to welcome <em>Call of Juarez: Gunslinger<\/em> to our publishing division,\u201d said Techland Publishing CPO Adam Laso\u0144 in a statement. \u201cWe would like to thank Ubisoft for its incredible work publishing the <em>Call of Juarez<\/em> games.
