{"id":18476,"date":"2018-04-26T15:12:00","date_gmt":"2018-04-26T15:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/317079"},"modified":"2018-04-26T15:12:00","modified_gmt":"2018-04-26T15:12:00","slug":"lifetime-switch-sales-have-surpassed-17m-units","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2018\/04\/26\/lifetime-switch-sales-have-surpassed-17m-units\/","title":{"rendered":"Lifetime Switch sales have surpassed 17M units"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nintendo Switch has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendo.co.jp\/ir\/en\/finance\/hard_soft\/index.html\">sold 17.79 million units<\/a> since launching just over a year ago on March 3, 2017.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo revealed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/317077\/Nintendo_reports_jump_in_profits_as_Switch_tops_15M_sales.php\">15.05 million of those sales<\/a> came during the past fiscal year, helping to bump up the company&#8217;s full-year sales and profits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not just Switch hardware that&#8217;s selling, either. The console&#8217;s software roster has pulled in combined sales of 68.97 million, with popular first-party franchises like <em>Super Mario<\/em>, <em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em>, and <em>Splatoon\u00a0<\/em>leading the charge.<\/p>\n<p>The latest hardware figures\u00a0put the Switch well beyond its predecessor, with the Wii U only racking up 13.56 million\u00a0lifetime sales.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As it stands, Nintendo expects the Switch to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/312378\/Report_Nintendo_expects_to_sell_20M_Switch_consoles_in_the_next_fiscal_year.php\">sell another 20 million units<\/a> during this financial year.
