{"id":15401,"date":"2018-03-19T14:34:00","date_gmt":"2018-03-19T14:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/315627"},"modified":"2018-03-19T14:34:00","modified_gmt":"2018-03-19T14:34:00","slug":"amazon-debuts-gameon-a-new-cross-platform-competitive-game-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2018\/03\/19\/amazon-debuts-gameon-a-new-cross-platform-competitive-game-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon debuts GameOn, a new cross-platform competitive game platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the Game Developers Conference kicks off today,\u00a0Amazon has unveiled <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.amazon.com\/gameon\">GameOn<\/a>, a new platform\u00a0aimed at helping devs\u00a0implement cross-platform (mobile, console, PC) competitive multiplayer in their games.<\/p>\n<p>This may appeal to teams\u00a0looking for an off-the-shelf solution that helps\u00a0players\u00a0compete against one another across platforms, and Amazon is hoping to draw devs into trying GameOn by offering it for free until May 1st.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After that, you can expect to be charged roughly $0.003 per play, though Amazon says after the May 1st cutoff it will then give devs\u00a035,000 free plays per day for a limited time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What GameOn\u00a0offers is pretty straightforward: standard multiplayer,\u00a0leagues and\u00a0leaderboards, as well as the ability for devs, players, and community members to create custom events or competitions.
