A remarkable technical accomplishment, Doom gained rave reviews &#8211; but if industrious hackers have their way, it won&#8217;t be the last slice of hellish FPS action we get on Switch.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/kotaku.com\/hackers-are-working-to-bring-every-doom-game-to-switch-1823307504\">Kotaku<\/a>, there are other Doom games coming to the console, albeit unofficially. Late last year,\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/kgsws\/kgdoom\" rel=\"noopener\">kgDoom<\/a>\u00a0continued the happy tradition of trying to get id Software&#8217;s original 1993 outing onto every new piece of consumer tech by porting it to Switch.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-youtube\">\n<div class=\"youtube\">[embedded content] <\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p><strong>Doom 3<\/strong> has also been ported over, thanks to the fact that in 2011 id Software released the source code to the game. <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/dhewm\/dhewm3\">iodoom3<\/a> is a project which aims to get it running on as many platforms as possible, and Switch is included.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Doom 3 running on the switch thanks to dhewg <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Dy4LDCzwgR\">pic.twitter.com\/Dy4LDCzwgR<\/a><\/span>\u2014 iodoom3.org (@iodoom3) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iodoom3\/status\/966900746674356224?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 23, 2018<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>With <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/02\/hackers_turn_the_nintendo_switch_into_a_functioning_linux_tablet\">Linux<\/a> now known to be working on Nintendo&#8217;s console, the sky is really the limit here; there&#8217;s no reason why we couldn&#8217;t see <strong>Doom II<\/strong> or <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/n64\/doom_64\">Doom 64<\/a><\/strong> running on the system under emulation. It&#8217;s also worth pointing out that <strong>Doom 3: BFG Edition<\/strong> has previously been ported to the Nvidia Shield &#8211; a platform which runs on Tegra tech, just like Switch.
