His departure comes shortly after the retirements of both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2026\/01\/industry-veteran-hideki-konno-has-apparently-left-nintendo-after-four-decades\">Hideki Konno<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2026\/01\/nintendo-producer-kensuke-tanabe-has-seemingly-confirmed-his-retirement\">Kensuke Tanabe<\/a>, two more powerhouse names at Nintendo.<\/p>\n<p>Writing on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/goroemon\/status\/2030905901046169601\">X<\/a>, Abe-san said the following (machine translated:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I retired from Nintendo at the end of February.<br \/>Starting in April, I will be working as a professor at Osaka Electro-Communication University.<br \/>I will be working in the newly established &#8220;Game and Social Design&#8221; major.<br \/>I plan to work on game-related research and game production, so I hope to be able to interact with a wider range of people than ever before.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The latest entry in the WarioWare series \u2013 WarioWare: Move It! \u2013 launched for the Switch in 2023 and garnered reasonably positive reviews.
