One of the joys for many trainers during the earlier generations of Pok\u00e9mon was giving the main character and their rival a rude or downright inappropriate name. In the Switch eShop versions of Pok\u00e9mon FireRed & LeafGreen<\/a>, it seems there have been some updates to this.<\/p>\n

As reported by Kotaku, you’ll either have to get really<\/em> creative now, or there’s a good chance the game will override whatever you’ve input and instead give you a generic name. Here’s a sample of some of the words that won’t fly:<\/p>\n

“Kotaku<\/em> has verified that some words, such as \u201cd**k,\u201d \u201cp***y,\u201d \u201cs**t,\u201d and even the f-slur are replaced by names like \u201cGary\u201d or \u201cJanne.\u201d This doesn\u2019t seem to extend to some milder words, however, as \u201chell\u201d and \u201cdamn\u201d were not replaced.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
