As highlighted by Eurogamer, this puts it ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/3ds\/pokemon_ultra_sun_and_ultra_moon\">Pok\u00e9mon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon<\/a> Pok\u00e9dex.<\/p>\n<p>Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon featured data for every Pok\u00e9mon species but when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/pokemon_sword_and_shield\">Pok\u00e9mon Sword and Shield<\/a> was released, Game Freak made the decision to cut back and instead offer a select roster, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/06\/you_cannot_have_a_complete_national_pokedex_in_pokemon_sword_and_shield\">rather than the complete National Dex<\/a>. Scarlet and Violet also got a hand-picked Pok\u00e9dex &#8211; featuring a mix of new and old Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n<p>Game Freak has previously mentioned it simply can no longer include every Pok\u00e9mon in new mainline games, while also citing the possibility of balance issues if it did include every pocket monster.
