2023, eh? What a year for games.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve still got several months to go before we say hello to 2024 but during internal discussions between the Nintendo Life team, we\u2019ve all acknowledged that 2023 may go down as one of the best years in gaming history, proudly standing alongside the likes of 1998 and 2007.<\/p>\n

For Switch owners, the big event of the year was undoubtedly The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom<\/a>, which launched \u2014 finally<\/em> \u2014 back in May. That\u2019s not all though. We\u2019ve also enjoyed the likes of Metroid Prime Remastered<\/a>, Pikmin 4<\/a>, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp<\/a>, Fire Emblem Engage<\/a>, and Kirby\u2019s Return to Dream Land Deluxe<\/a>. And those are just the first-party titles.<\/p>\n

Going back to Tears of the Kingdom, the general feeling among the NLife team is that if it had launched back in 2022 as originally intended, it would have been an easy call for Game of the Year, with its only true competitor being FromSoftware\u2019s sublime Elden Ring<\/a>. Even with that brilliant rival, we feel that Tears of the Kingdom probably would have snatched the crown.<\/p>\n
