Once the joint breakfast was completed in the hotel restaurant, the members started heading off to the office by 10 in the morning. They were were gracefully served Catalonian snacks by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/lenkaseg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lenka Segura<\/a>, Japanese souvenirs by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/dkirwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Kirwan<\/a>, and German sweets by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/jbley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Julia Bley<\/a> for the duration of the meeting. <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/mattdm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matthew Miller<\/a> started the second day with his talk about the Fedora Project strategy and how <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.fedoraproject.org\/en-US\/cpe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Community Platform Engineering<\/a> fits into the picture. This talk was followed by the one by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/humaton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tomas Hrcka<\/a> about how the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.pagure.org\/releng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fedora Release Engineering team<\/a> addresses its responsibilities. The team took a short break after the first couple of sessions, before heading into the next set.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/the-community-platform-engineering-f2f-2023-experience-part-ii-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38359\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>From left to right<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/lenkaseg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lenka Segura<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/mattdm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matthew Miller<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/asamalik\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adam Samalik<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/tdawson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Troy Dawson<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After a short break, the team continued with three lightning talks delivered about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redhat.com\/en\/technologies\/cloud-computing\/openshift\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OpenShift<\/a> operators by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/dkirwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Kirwan<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/packit.dev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Packit<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/lachmanfrantisek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Frantisek Lachman<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/lbarczio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Laura Barcziova<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/pulpproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pulp<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/msuchy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Miroslav<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/msuchy\/\"> Suchy<\/a>. Miroslav Suchy delivered a thought-provoking talk about the scope of tooling for the Community Platform Engineering team, and how it contributes to <a href=\"https:\/\/fedoraproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fedora Linux<\/a>. With that, the folks dispersed into small groups for lunch. Once they were back in the office, <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/csomh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hunor Csomort\u00e1ni<\/a> delivered a talk about revisiting source-git and the plans for unifying package sources in the pipeline. This was followed by a talk by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/carlwgeorge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carl George<\/a> about the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.fedoraproject.org\/en-US\/epel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EPEL<\/a> 10 plans for improvements that would be coming very soon. The final interesting talk of the day was delivered by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/bstinson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brian Stinson<\/a> about the expectations of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redhat.com\/en\/technologies\/linux-platforms\/enterprise-linux\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RHEL<\/a> from Fedora Linux and <a href=\"http:\/\/centosproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CentOS<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/centosproject.org\/\"> Stream<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/the-community-platform-engineering-f2f-2023-experience-part-ii-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38360\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>From left to right<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/ekidney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emma Kidney<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/dfan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Fan<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/zlopez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michal Konecny<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/t0xic0der\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Akashdeep Dhar<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/jnsamyak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Samyak Jain<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/dkirwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Kirwan<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the evening, at around 19:00, the team members left for a regional burger restaurant, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/Restaurant_Review-g187497-d7223439-Reviews-Tio_Joe-Barcelona_Catalonia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tio Joe\u2019s<\/a>. This had been booked in advance and was near the hotel premises . With toasts made to the team members that were now united after a long time, they not only enjoyed the appetizing food that was served but also the company of the friends that they had bonded with over the course of the last couple days. <\/p>\n<p>Once the dinner was over, at around 21:30, some folks headed back to the hotel for a respite. The remainder went to the <a href=\"https:\/\/trompokaraokebar.com\/\">Trompos <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/trompokaraokebar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Karaoke<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/trompokaraokebar.com\/\"> Bar<\/a> to participate in the fun karaoke night session organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/abompard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aurelien Bompard<\/a>. People queued up their songs and soon began to collaborate in performing their favorite songs in duos and in choirs. This was a fitting end to the night, as late as 02:00, and a fun look at their singing preferences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 3<\/strong><strong><br \/><\/strong><strong><em>Thursday, 23rd March 2023<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was the day of departure for a lot of people. Since they would miss out on the sessions on this third day, it was incredibly light in terms of the agenda and activities. Many of the team members checked out of their hotel rooms after breakfast at 09:00 and left their luggage with the hotel before leaving for the office.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/smattejiet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stefan Mattejiet<\/a> started off the last day with his discussion session about CPE Futurespective, and understanding what direction the team should head in the coming times. The interesting discussion felt a lot inspired by the established logic model planning structure used for <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.fedoraproject.org\/en-US\/council\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fedora Council<\/a> community initiatives. This structure starts off with planning the general objectives first and then going back to the implementation details later.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/the-community-platform-engineering-f2f-2023-experience-part-ii-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38358\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>From left to right<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/arrfab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fabian Arrotin<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/james\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James Antill<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/asaleh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adam Saleh<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/carlwgeorge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carl George<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/humaton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tomas Hrcka<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The next session was hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/accounts.fedoraproject.org\/user\/amoloney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aoife Moloney<\/a> who kicked off an interesting discussion about the limited-scope projects that the team undertakes and the maintainers for the applications that the team takes care of. The members participated in pointing out the things that currently work great and those that could use some improvements. This was the last planned session for the day and the group assembled to be a part of the \u201cCommunity Platform Engineering family picture\u201d. Some members decided to stay longer to explore Barcelona a bit more. Others began collecting their luggage from the hotel and leaving for the airport. With \u201cgoodbyes\u201d waved to teammates and \u201cresolves\u201d about the next thing, the members departed from the face-to-face meeting with a new zeal and energy to contribute in an even better way to the community. <\/p>\n<p>Even with minor hiccups and some teammates not being able to join the event, the meeting event turned out to be a grand success &#8211; both in uniting the members and in strategizing the team&#8217;s efforts.
