Well, <em>mostly<\/em>&#8230; Hi there, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/metroid_prime_4\">Metroid Prime 4<\/a>. Hi&#8230; Please show yourself. Please?<\/p>\n<p>The Direct presentation will take place on <strong>8th February 2023 at 2pm PT \/ 5pm ET \/ 10pm GMT \/ 9th February 2023 9am AET<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, here at Nintendo Life, we all just love to make predictions, if only so we can build unrealistic expectations for ourselves and ultimately wallow in despai&#8230; er, what? Never mind. I think some new footage, maybe one or two new mechanics, and then a teaser for a focused Direct in April is Nintendo&#8217;s little treat for us for being so patient. <em>Soon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim Norman (Staff Writer) &#8211;<\/strong> A little indie game like Tears of the Kingdom appearing at a big Nintendo Direct? Has the whole world gone topsy-turvy? There has to be <em>something<\/em> here, right? A small trailer, an explanation of a new mechanic, a piece of official art <em>other<\/em> than that one of sky Link looking moodily off into the distance. It will only be small, but there will be something.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ollie Reynolds (Staff Writer)<\/strong> &#8211; I think Tears of the Kingdom has to be shown here, given that it\u2019s launching in like, what three months? At the most, I think we\u2019ll probably get a little trailer with a \u2018Holiday 2023\u2019 release window attached to it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim &#8211;<\/strong> I wouldn&#8217;t bet on getting a proper reveal for Pikmin 4 \u2014 last time, we just got a brief look at a sleeping Bulborb and everyone lost their minds so who&#8217;s to say they need to do anything more?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alana &#8211;<\/strong> I actually think we <em>will<\/em> get some Pikmin 4. I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;ll be out in the first half of the year, but this Direct is only &#8220;mostly focused on #NintendoSwitch games launching in the first half of 2023.&#8221; So, y&#8217;know, it&#8217;s not impossible. Pok\u00e9mon Day is on the horizon where I am sure that all will be revealed, why compete with all the other news at a Direct when you can have the &#8220;we&#8217;re fixing our game!&#8221; headlines all to yourself?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alana &#8211;<\/strong> Well, we&#8217;re still waiting on a patch for the game. But I think Pok\u00e9mon will just get a little teaser with a &#8220;stay tuned for 27th February&#8221; or something like that. Scarlet &amp; Violet was revealed during last year&#8217;s Pok\u00e9mon Day stream, so I think some DLC will also be announced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ollie &#8211;<\/strong> Scarlet and Violet will definitely get some DLC soon, without a doubt, but whether it will be shown here is another story. It\u2019s likely The Pok\u00e9mon Company will want to hold off until Pok\u00e9mon Day later this month for any huge announcements. I also wouldn\u2019t be surprised if the company\u2019s plans for DLC are pushed back slightly in favour of making the game more stable..? I know it sold boatloads, but Nintendo doesn\u2019t strike me as the kind of publisher to ignore such widespread negative reception.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gavin &#8211;<\/strong> Yep, this gets its own broadcast later in the month.<\/p>\n<h3>Will we finally \u2014 <em>finally<\/em> \u2014 see Metroid Prime 4?<\/h3>\n<figure class=\"picture\"><a class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Direct Predictions 3\" href=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/c034e4d86f22b\/direct-predictions-3.large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciIHZpZXdCb3g9IjAgMCA5MDAgNTA2Ij48L3N2Zz4=\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" data-original=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/c034e4d86f22b\/direct-predictions-3.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Direct Predictions 3\"><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption\"><em class=\"credit\">Image: Nintendo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Alana &#8211;<\/strong> I really don&#8217;t think so, and if we do, it&#8217;ll be another teaser and that&#8217;s it. I&#8217;m sorry, everyone. But I&#8217;m always ready to be proven wrong.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gavin &#8211;<\/strong> I&#8217;m going to say no, but is Metroid Dread DLC too far-fetched?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ollie &#8211;<\/strong> Oh man, I <em>really<\/em> hope we see something from Metroid Prime 4 here\u2026 It\u2019s time, y\u2019know? But then, my hopes and dreams don\u2019t necessarily line up with my actual predictions, and I\u2019m afraid it\u2019s probably unlikely we\u2019ll see anything from Retro Studio\u2019s latest effort in this showcase. It breaks my heart to say that, but there we go.<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim &#8211;<\/strong> I am predicting one of those very polite &#8220;we&#8217;re sorry, but you&#8217;re going to have to give us a little more time&#8221; announcements that Nintendo is so good at. Maybe we&#8217;ll get a look at some artwork or a snippet of a trailer to keep us going, but I can&#8217;t see this Morph Ball rolling any time soon.<\/p>\n<h3>Will a new 2D\/3D Mario title be announced?<\/h3>\n<figure class=\"picture\"><a class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Direct Predictions 4\" href=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/6e7c9db218e45\/direct-predictions-4.large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciIHZpZXdCb3g9IjAgMCA5MDAgNTA2Ij48L3N2Zz4=\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" data-original=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/6e7c9db218e45\/direct-predictions-4.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Direct Predictions 4\"><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption\"><em class=\"credit\">Image: Nintendo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Alana &#8211;<\/strong> This is another one where I think, honestly, no. I think the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/super_mario_odyssey\">Odyssey<\/a> sequel has flown the coop at this point, so the next Mario game will be something fresh. I think we&#8217;re too close to a potential successor that the next Mario game will be a cross-gen launch title for the new system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim &#8211;<\/strong> Oh what I&#8217;d give for this one! Six months ago, I would have said that this is happening without a doubt, but now&#8230; Mario is a new console-launcher if you ask me (<em>hint hint, Nintendo<\/em>). I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if we got some kind of remaster or reboot job for the time being (I will lose my mind if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/wii\/super_mario_galaxy_2\">Galaxy 2<\/a> heads for Switch) but the time for an original title is yet to come.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gavin &#8211;<\/strong> I predict Mario content (I know, stop the press), but I&#8217;d be amazed it&#8217;s a new platformer at this stage in Switch&#8217;s life. Maybe a port, although what&#8217;s left? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/3ds\/super_mario_3d_land\">Super Mario 3D Land<\/a> Deluxe?&#8230; Wait, that&#8217;s an incredible idea. Felix wants <strong>Mario Party<\/strong> DLC boards, everyone wants more <strong>Mario Strikers<\/strong> <em>stuff<\/em>. I don&#8217;t see more new mainline Mario.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ollie &#8211;<\/strong> I\u2019d love for a new Mario game to be announced, it\u2019s been bloomin\u2019 <em>ages<\/em> since we\u2019ve had an original title! There are still folks who reckon a game will drop in time for the upcoming Movie, but\u2026 nah, I\u2019m not buyin\u2019 that, not when the movie itself is just two months away now. That doesn\u2019t mean a new game won\u2019t be announced, but I think it\u2019s likely to be lined up for the end of the year.<\/p>\n<h3>What ports, if any, will show up?<\/h3>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"picture\"><a class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Direct Predictions 8\" href=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/f81969d8ed931\/direct-predictions-8.large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciIHZpZXdCb3g9IjAgMCA5MDAgNTA2Ij48L3N2Zz4=\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" data-original=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/f81969d8ed931\/direct-predictions-8.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Direct Predictions 8\"><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption\"><em class=\"credit\">Image: Nintendo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Gavin &#8211;<\/strong> If we&#8217;re going back to Wii Kirby games, I&#8217;ll take an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/wii\/kirbys_epic_yarn\">Extra Epic Yarn<\/a> Deluxe. And if we&#8217;re going back to the Wii U well, I&#8217;d take a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/wiiu\/yoshis_woolly_world\">Yoshi&#8217;s Woolly World<\/a> Deluxe, too. All my other port hopes are smaller-scale indies. I&#8217;d still love <strong>FTL<\/strong> to come to Switch however unlikely that is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alana &#8211;<\/strong> If this is reportedly Nintendo&#8217;s &#8220;quiet year&#8221;, then I can see the back half of the year get some ports. Not <em>strictly<\/em> a port, but those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/gamecube\/baten_kaitos_eternal_wings_and_the_lost_ocean\">Baten Kaitos<\/a> remake rumours would fit here, wouldn&#8217;t they? I&#8217;m not sure I&#8217;d drown the year out with more Zelda ports. Hey, maybe Vampire Survivors will make the jump \u2014 it&#8217;s certainly a big enough indie title to make a splash in a main Direct.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim &#8211;<\/strong> I honestly think this is going to be a Nintendo-fest from start to finish, showing us all that it has more things planned for the year than TOTK. Then again, there&#8217;s that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/gamecube\/metroid_prime\">Metroid Prime<\/a> Remaster that has <em>definitely<\/em> been sitting on the shelf for years now, right??<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ollie &#8211;<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/wiiu\/legend_of_zelda_twilight_princess_hd\">Twilight Princess HD<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/wiiu\/legend_of_zelda_the_wind_waker_hd\">The Wind Waker HD<\/a>. Boom, there we go. Oh, and the first Metroid Prime. And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/gamecube\/ssx_tricky\">SSX Tricky<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>What third-party games will be showcased? Will we get any demos?<\/h3>\n<figure class=\"picture\"><a class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Direct Predictions 9\" href=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/226bf4cbb0e01\/direct-predictions-9.large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciIHZpZXdCb3g9IjAgMCA5MDAgNTAwIj48L3N2Zz4=\" width=\"900\" height=\"500\" data-original=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/226bf4cbb0e01\/direct-predictions-9.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Direct Predictions 9\"><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption\"><em class=\"credit\">Image: Square Enix<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Alana &#8211;<\/strong> Given Team Asano has been consistent, I&#8217;m holding out for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/octopath_traveler_ii\">Octopath Traveler II<\/a> demo to drop tomorrow. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/kirbys_return_to_dream_land_deluxe\">Kirby&#8217;s Return to Dream Land Deluxe<\/a> might also get a little demo before its release, too! And oh gosh, I&#8217;ll say it and fall on my nail again \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/hollow_knight_silksong\">Silksong<\/a>. A trailer. A window. <em>Something<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim &#8211;<\/strong> I would really, really like to see some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/sea_of_stars\">Sea Of Stars<\/a> at this one (maybe even with a release date on it). The hype is real for this game so it would make sense to put it on the big stage. Maybe also some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/vikings_on_trampolines\">Vikings on Trampolines<\/a>. I&#8217;m obsessed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/owlboy\">Owlboy<\/a> again at the moment and need to see more from the D-Pad Studio team&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gavin &#8211;<\/strong> Alana said Silksong. We&#8217;ve got an alarm for that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ollie &#8211;<\/strong> I think Octopath Traveler II is pretty much a given for this showcase, and yeah, it\u2019s probably likely we\u2019ll get some sort of demo ahead of the launch. Aside from that, it would be nice to get some more <strong>Resident Evil<\/strong> love from Capcom! No more cloud games, though, give us the original PS1 trilogy or something; that would be sweeeet.<\/p>\n<h3>Wildcard \/ One More Thing&#8230;<\/h3>\n<figure class=\"picture\"><a class=\"scanlines\" title=\"Direct Predictions 10\" href=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/5abd5af8a7cfc\/direct-predictions-10.large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciIHZpZXdCb3g9IjAgMCA5MDAgNTE1Ij48L3N2Zz4=\" width=\"900\" height=\"515\" data-original=\"https:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/5abd5af8a7cfc\/direct-predictions-10.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Direct Predictions 10\"><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption\"><em class=\"credit\">Image: Nintendo Life<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Ollie &#8211;<\/strong> Nintendo\u2019s big \u201cone more thing\u201d announcement for this showcase, if it\u2019s not Metroid Prime 4 or a new Mario, will probably be something daft, like\u2026 I don\u2019t know, Nintendo Switch Music or something. It would be nice to get more support for Nintendo Switch Online, of course\u2026 Maybe Game Boy, or Game Boy Advance?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jim &#8211;<\/strong> &#8220;Just one more thing,&#8221; the voiceover announces as the screen goes black. We see the NSO user logo in the top left corner of the image and hear the infamous <em>brrrlling b-ding<\/em> of a GBA starting up. The crowd goes wild and I cry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gavin &#8211;<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/snes\/star_fox\">Star Fox<\/a>&#8216;s 30th is coming up later this month. Might be something in that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alana &#8211;<\/strong> Okay, this is less of a &#8220;One More Thing&#8221; announcement and more of a &#8220;Well this doesn&#8217;t fit anywhere else and I feel it in my bones&#8221; thing \u2014 I think we&#8217;ll see Wave 3 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/xenoblade_chronicles_3\">Xenoblade Chronicles 3<\/a>&#8216;s DLC. Wave 2 launched in October and we saw it get a date in the September 2022 Direct. Wave 3 is due out before the end of April and we know barely anything. I <em>also<\/em> think we&#8217;ll see the promised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/xenoblade_chronicles_3_expansion_pass\">story DLC<\/a> and probably get a date for that. I think the show will close out on TOTK, to be honest.
