The latest Japanese charts are here and there are a couple of major changes to note this week.<\/p>\n

First, looking at software, Pok\u00e9mon Scarlet and Violet<\/a> have finally been knocked off the top spot by none other than Fire Emblem Engage<\/a>, with the latter selling an impressive 144,558 copies. It’s a strong start for the tactical RPG, which also performed well in the UK, earning the second highest boxed launch of the entire franchise<\/a>, just behind Fire Emblem: Three Houses<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Otherwise, it’s business as usual over in Japan, with the usual big hitters retaining their spots in the top ten, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe<\/a>, Nintendo Switch Sports<\/a>, and Minecraft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    The other major change this week comes via the hardware chart, which sees Sony’s PlayStation 5 finally come out on the top, knocking the Switch OLED Model down to second place. It’s a significant milestone for the console, but obviously keep in mind that if you combine the sales for all three Switch variants, Nintendo’s hardware still continues to dominate.<\/p>\n
