They&#8217;re entirely separate Pok\u00e9mon, not regional variants!<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"you-can-name-your-pokemon-egg\">You can name your Pok\u00e9mon &#8220;Egg&#8221;<\/h4>\n<p>If you name your Pok\u00e9mon &#8220;Egg&#8221;, the game will occasionally think it <em>is<\/em> an egg, and refer to it as &#8220;The Egg&#8221;. ScarVi has Herba Mystica&#8230; but what does Herba Mystica abbreviate to? That&#8217;s right. <em>HM<\/em>. Woah.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"marks-and-ribbons-give-your-pokemon-titles\">Marks and Ribbons give your Pok\u00e9mon titles<\/h4>\n<p>You can earn Ribbons for your Pok\u00e9mon and catch wild &#8216;mons that have Marks on them, but did you know that each one confers a title on your Pok\u00e9mon? It&#8217;ll appear in battle, turning your Pok\u00e9mon from bog-standard Pikachu into &#8220;Pikachu the Great Friend&#8221; or &#8220;Pikachu the Rowdy&#8221;. Some of them are <em>really<\/em> hard to get, though&#8230;<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"bagins-is-a-reference-to-pokemon-legends-arceus\">Bagin&#8217;s is a reference to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/pokemon_legends_arceus\">Pok\u00e9mon Legends: Arceus<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The bag shop in ScarVi is called Bagin&#8217;s, and you might think, &#8220;sure, it&#8217;s a play on the word &#8216;bag&#8217;, I get it&#8221; \u2014 but it&#8217;s more than that!<\/p>\n<p>Players of Pok\u00e9mon Legends: Arceus may remember Bagin as the guy who charges WAY too much money to add a single slot to your bag. It&#8217;s called the Once-In-A-Lifetime Ribbon, and it&#8217;s earned through Surprise Trades!<\/p>\n<p>A neat trick for swapping around items like Rocky Helmet, Lucky Egg, and Amulet Coins!<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"press-rs-to-centre-the-battle-view\">Press RS to centre the battle view<br \/><\/h4>\n<p>Do you find that your viewpoint is always a bit pants? Wouldn&#8217;t it be nice if you could have the battle framed like old games, with the option to free-cam around if you feel like it?<\/p>\n<p>Just press in the right stick on your controller to snap the battle into an old-style view!<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"press-zl-in-battle-to-focus-on-the-opponent\">Press ZL in battle to focus on the opponent<\/h4>\n<p>And hey, wouldn&#8217;t it be nice to be able to examine your foes, too? Well, you can! Hold down the ZL button and you&#8217;ll focus on your opponent up close.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"press-rs-in-the-overworld-to-change-the-zoom\">Press RS in the overworld to change the zoom<\/h4>\n<p>While you&#8217;re running around in the open world of Paldea, you can change how close the camera is for a better view. Just click in the right stick to zoom out or in.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"check-stat-changes-with-y\">Check stat changes with Y<\/h4>\n<p>When you&#8217;re in battle, press &#8220;Y&#8221; to open up a menu that shows you all the effects, stat changes, and abilities in effect on the battlefield. Handy!<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"pin-tms-to-track-down-ingredients\">Pin TMs to track down ingredients<\/h4>\n<p>Head over to the TM Machine and press the + button to &#8220;pin&#8221; a TM recipe. It&#8217;s very cute, and if you want to see it for yourself, just set up a picnic and wait a couple of minutes.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"pokemon-wont-auto-battle-shiny-wild-pokemon\">Pok\u00e9mon won&#8217;t auto-battle shiny wild Pok\u00e9mon<\/h4>\n<p>Now, we haven&#8217;t tried this out, but don&#8217;t blame us \u2014 we&#8217;re not willing to test a theory like this considering the 1\/4000 chance of finding a shiny in the first place! However, the internet seems to agree that your Pok\u00e9mon won&#8217;t auto-battle shiny Pok\u00e9mon when you&#8217;re using the Let&#8217;s Go feature. That&#8217;s a relief.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"there-are-two-different-academy-founders\">There are two different Academy founders<\/h4>\n<p>Naranja and Uva Academy were founded by two different people. It&#8217;s a Pok\u00e9mon, like any other \u2014 so you can totally battle it, if you want.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"a-sneaky-trick-to-refill-pp-for-free\">A sneaky trick to refill PP for free<\/h4>\n<p>You can unlearn, then relearn a move in the field to easily refill its PP without having to use an Ether. It&#8217;s not as <em>fast<\/em> as an Ether&#8230; but it&#8217;s free!<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"tera-orbs-refill\">Tera Orbs refill<\/h4>\n<p>You don&#8217;t need to schlep all the way to a Pok\u00e9mon Center to refill your Tera Orbs. In fact, you don&#8217;t even have to do a Tera Raid.
