And, in an upcoming interview with Famitsu (translated by Persona Central via leaker ryokutya2089), Atlus producer Shinji Yamamoto has revealed that Sega is in charge of development for this remaster.

The details of the interview have leaked ahead of the publication of issue #1767 of Weekly Famitsu, and in the snippet, Yamamoto highlights that a few things have been optimised, such as “the number of the pieces of debris that blow away for each model. Elements like effects, number of projectiles, etc.”, for the remaster.

But the most interesting point Yamamoto makes is about Sega, who won a bid to acquire Atlus in 2013. The company has also been publishing all of Atlus’ games since 2016. But while Persona 4 Golden (which is coming to the Switch eShop alongside Persona 3 Portable in January 2023) on Steam was handled internally, and Soul Hackers 2 was co-created with Artdink (who also worked on Triangle Strategy), Sega is going hands-on with this project:

“Sega was in charge of the development of the remaster (not just matching the resolution to the console). It was a very meaningful project. Multi-platform development isn’t easy. This was my first porting project, and I didn’t realize how hard it would be.”

Sega is handling Persona 5 Royal on all consoles — that’s Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows via Steam — and the game launches on 21st October.

Will you be grabbing Persona 5 Royal when it launches next week?
