{"id":127961,"date":"2022-09-09T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-09T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fedoramagazine.org\/?p=36972"},"modified":"2022-09-09T08:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T08:00:00","slug":"manual-action-required-to-update-fedora-silverblue-kinoite-and-iot-version-36","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2022\/09\/09\/manual-action-required-to-update-fedora-silverblue-kinoite-and-iot-version-36\/","title":{"rendered":"Manual action required to update Fedora Silverblue, Kinoite and IoT (version 36)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to an unfortunate combination of issues, the Fedora Silverblue, Kinoite and IoT variants that are running a version from 36.20220810.0 and later are no longer able to update to the latest version.<\/p>\n<p>You can use these two commands to work around the bugs:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">$ sudo find \/boot\/efi -exec touch '{}' ';'\n$ sudo touch \/etc\/kernel\/cmdline<\/pre>\n<p>Afterwards, you can update your system as usual with GNOME Software (on Silverblue) or via:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">$ sudo rpm-ostree upgrade<\/pre>\n<p>These two issues are rooted in GRUB2 bugs that have only landed in Fedora and do not affect CentOS Stream 9 or RHEL.
