The announcement also saw the reveal of a console trailer which shows the game&#8217;s mechanics in action.<\/p>\n<p>Those eager to explore the floating kingdom of Haricot will play as Vernal, a hero bent on finding her estranged father to come to terms with her past. The journey seems to be quite classical from a Metroidvania point of view, but the retro pixelated style and fantasy-esque setting have us thinking of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/astalon_tears_of_the_earth\">Astalon: Tears of the Earth<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/record_of_lodoss_war_deedlit_in_wonder_labyrinth\">Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth<\/a>, and we&#8217;re always happy to see more games like those!<\/p>\n<p>We are also a sucker for seeing 3D gameplay in an otherwise 2D game \u2014 as you can see in the trailer, navigating the floating islands of Haricot look to add a different visual style to the genre staples around it.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gallery\"><figcaption class=\"caption\"><em class=\"credit\">Images: Hello Penguin<\/em><\/figcaption><\/aside>\n<p>For a closer look at some of the features that you can expect to find in Vernal Edge, take a look at the following from the game&#8217;s <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/1546710\/Vernal_Edge\/\">Steam page<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>&#8211; A Fast-Paced Metroidvania<\/strong> \u2013 Explore the floating islands of Haricot.
