Here are the high-profile features that aren&#8217;t going to debut in the initial release of Apple&#8217;s upcoming operating system.\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>As is often the case, Apple&#8217;s software aspirations are too ambiguous. Some features were announced as coming in future updates while others will go missing during the beta process.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>So far, here is what we know about the features that won&#8217;t make it to the point-zero release of iOS 16.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 embed\">\n<div class=\"align-center\">\n<p>[youtube https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ndYbz876XYA]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2 data-anchor=\"some-features-wont-be-available-right-away\" id=\"some-features-wont-be-available-right-away\">Some features won&#8217;t be available right away<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>One of the most notable delayed features is support for Live Activities. These allow you to view real-time updates directly on your Lock Screen. This could be your GrubHub order, your Uber&#8217;s status, or the score of the ongoing football game.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/these-features-wont-be-in-the-release-of-ios-16.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/these-features-wont-be-in-the-release-of-ios-16.jpg\" alt=\"Live Activities in iOS 16\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"img-responsive article-image\"><\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"carousel-caption\">Live Actives in iOS 16<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>Apple&#8217;s Freeform app won&#8217;t in iOS 16, though the iPhone-maker said this from the start. Technically, iOS 15 already supports the beta of Matter and iOS 16 will fully support Matter \u2014 when the standard is released itself. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>Matter is supposed to be available to end-users this fall and iOS 16 will \u2014 theoretically \u2014 be ready when it arrives.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>Contact integration for Game Center as well as SharePlay support for Game Center will also be missing.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2 data-anchor=\"then-theres-ipados\" id=\"then-theres-ipados\">Then there&#8217;s iPadOS<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>With a few major issues still lagging in iPadOS 16 beta, there were several reports saying Apple was planning on delaying its release until at least October.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>When Apple issued the seventh beta of the updates, iPadOS 16 was renamed iPadOS 16.1, <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/22\/08\/23\/first-public-ipados-16-release-will-actually-be-ios-161-in-october\">confirming it<\/a> as the first public-facing release. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>We expect iPadOS 16.1 to be released alongside new iPads in October, instead. Hopefully we&#8217;ll see enhancements to Stage Manager and the missing iPad-specific Focus filters.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2 data-anchor=\"when-will-ios-16-be-released\" id=\"when-will-ios-16-be-released\">When will iOS 16 be released?<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>Apple hasn&#8217;t officially set a release date for iOS 16 though we can speculate based on current event rumors and previous schedules.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>The most recent rumors identify September 7 as the most likely date for Apple&#8217;s fall <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/inside\/iphone-14\">iPhone 14<\/a> event. If precedent holds, Apple will issue the RC, or release candidate, of iOS 16 to developers and public beta testers that same day. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>We&#8217;d then theoretically see pre-orders of iPhone 14 that Friday, September 9. This would mean iPhone 14 will be arriving to customers starting a week later, on September 16.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>Apple would officially release iOS 16 to everyone then between September 12 to September 15.
