Born out of a game on Tiktok, <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/knowyourmeme.com\/memes\/shes-a-10-but-hes-a-10-but\">They&#8217;re a 10 but<\/a> is meant to be a lighthearted joke where you bring up one flaw about someone who is otherwise perfect. All in good faith of course \u2014 no one real!<\/p>\n<p>Gaming giant EA decided to join in on the joke in a way that ruffled many people&#8217;s feathers, <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.videogameschronicle.com\/news\/ea-criticised-for-appearing-to-mock-people-who-only-like-single-play-games\/\">VGC<\/a> reports. The developer shared its take on the joke early this morning, and it was quickly met with ire.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">They\u2019re a 10 but they only like playing single-player games<\/span>\u2014 Electronic Arts (@EA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EA\/status\/1542652454159798272?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 30, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Once upon a time, you may remember that former EA Games President Frank Gibeau said &#8220;I have not green lit one game to be developed as a single-player experience. Today, all of our games include online applications and digital services that make them live 24\/7\/365.&#8221; And in 2017, EA&#8217;s CFO suggested that many don&#8217;t enjoy linear games &#8220;as much today as they did five years ago&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, Electronic Arts are doing a bit better on that front with the success of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pushsquare.com\/games\/ps5\/star_wars_jedi_fallen_order\" class=\"external\">Jedi: Fallen Order<\/a> along with the upcoming sequel, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pushsquare.com\/games\/ps5\/dead_space\" class=\"external\">Dead Space<\/a> remake, and a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pushsquare.com\/games\/ps5\/dragon_age_dreadwolf\" class=\"external\">Dragon Age<\/a> title. But yesterday&#8217;s tweet brought out a lot of feelings in people, including developers who had worked with EA in the past.<\/p>\n<p>A former producer at EA and Visceral Games \u2014 someone who was behind the original Dead Space and Dante&#8217;s Inferno \u2014 Zach Mumbach, was not happy with the company&#8217;s tweet, calling them out for shutting down his studio and laying off &#8220;~100 great developers&#8221;<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Also, if you break game rating scores down to a 10 point scale most <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ea<\/a> games are a solid 6 or 7. Not because the developers are bad but because ea the corporation forces them to rush games out.
