It’s June, and this month is PACKED with new game releases and lots of summer gaming events! No, not-E3, although that’s what we’re calling it \u2014 “not-E3<\/em>“. This week, Pok\u00e9mon Scarlet and Violet got a November release date<\/a>! And it will officially be the first open-world mainline game<\/a>. We also got a look at Sonic Frontiers’ own open world<\/a> and some combat. And footage of a cancelled Kirby GameCube game was discovered<\/a> earlier in the week.<\/em><\/p>\n

In other news, Card Shark’s “witty writing” and “tense gameplay”<\/a> surprised us. Yours truly asked a big question this week \u2014 why isn’t Nintendo doing more with its music?<\/a> And Kate wrote about the saddest games you can play on Switch<\/a>, for when you need a good cry.<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/p>\n

So I guess I could<\/em> say I\u2019m playing something completely brand new this weekend, but let\u2019s not kid ourselves here. A remake of Resident Evil 4<\/a> has been confirmed, so of course I\u2019m going back to play through the Switch version<\/a> for the *checks notes* 1,115th time. If you haven’t gathered, I\u2019m a little bit excited!<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, I\u2019m riding on a Star Wars<\/strong> high after watching the first three episodes of the exceptional Obi-Wan Kenobi<\/strong> series, so I\u2019ve gone back to play Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic<\/a> ahead of the upcoming release of its sequel. Both games are wonderful depictions of the extended universe and it makes me so sad that it\u2019s not considered canon anymore. Heck, it\u2019s canon as far as I\u2019m concerned \u2014 take that<\/em>, Disney.<\/p>\n
