According to Twitter user <a data-focusable=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/beackupburner\" role=\"link\">@beackupburner<\/a>, one of the Switch subreddits has new moderation, and they&#8217;re cracking the whip.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">this subreddit for the nintendo switch has new moderation and their priorities are amazing. they sent everyone a modmail that said &#8220;rent is due!&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wJuzbjLtVV\">pic.twitter.com\/wJuzbjLtVV<\/a><\/span>\u2014 bea (@beackupburner) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/beackupburner\/status\/1345976735570001920?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 4, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>The Switch subreddit has always been a bit of an odd place. The larger forum by far is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/NintendoSwitch\/\">r\/NintendoSwitch<\/a>, with 2.7 million members; r\/Switch only has around 135k at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>The current rules of the place include &#8220;Do not covet your neighbour\u2019s lawn&#8221; and &#8220;Ensure that there are functional connections between land and water&#8221;. One of the sidebars details &#8220;Compulsory Subscriptions&#8221; to other, unrelated subreddits, like r\/PersonalFinance and r\/Catholic. The new flairs &#8211; tags that go on a post to indicate its content &#8211; are themed around the seven deadly sins. There&#8217;s a sticker that just says &#8220;I&#8217;m a Pepper&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Some longtime members of the subreddit have noted that it&#8217;s largely one mod, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/JustUnsubbed\/comments\/kpqd10\/rswitch_changed_ownership_got_weird\/ghzcsas\/?utm_source=reddit&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\">CupKnifeSpoon<\/a>, doing all the weird stuff &#8211; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/JustUnsubbed\/comments\/kpqd10\/rswitch_changed_ownership_got_weird\/gi06hr0\/?utm_source=reddit&amp;utm_medium=web2x&amp;context=3\">they&#8217;ve apparently been doing it for a while<\/a>. The mod&#8217;s motive has yet to be discovered.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><\/figure>\n<p>Members have begun to fight back against the tyranny of the new moderators, with memes that depict Mario and friends informing others of tenants&#8217; rights. It seems like some people are having fun with the new rules and regulations, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/JustUnsubbed\/comments\/kpqd10\/rswitch_changed_ownership_got_weird\/\">others really, <em>really<\/em> want Reddit to burn the place to the ground<\/a>. Meanwhile, some members are just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Switch\/comments\/kqdc37\/best_controller_for_mario_maker_and_breath_of_the\/\">obliviously posting regular Switch content<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Do you think this weird takeover is a serious thing?
