{"id":122280,"date":"2020-12-18T14:43:00","date_gmt":"2020-12-18T14:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/375407"},"modified":"2020-12-18T14:43:00","modified_gmt":"2020-12-18T14:43:00","slug":"cd-projekt-hasnt-discussed-removing-cyberpunk-from-xbox-platforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2020\/12\/18\/cd-projekt-hasnt-discussed-removing-cyberpunk-from-xbox-platforms\/","title":{"rendered":"CD Projekt hasn&#8217;t discussed removing Cyberpunk from Xbox platforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CD Projekt chief executive Adam Kicinski has suggested <em>Cyberpunk 2077 <\/em>won&#8217;t be pulled from the Microsoft Store.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The long-awaited RPG launched on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in pretty rough shape, with a huge number of players encountering bugs and crashes on last-gen consoles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As a result, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/375389\/Sony_removes_Cyberpunk_2077_from_PlayStation_Store_promises_refunds.php\">Sony chose to remove it from&nbsp;the PlayStation Store last night<\/a>, while also making good on CD Projekt&#8217;s promise to refund players who aren&#8217;t satisfied with the state of the game.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The decision has left many wondering whether<em> Cyberpunk <\/em>would meet a similar fate on Xbox platforms, but in a statement handed to Reuters, Kicinski said the company isn&#8217;t in &#8220;such discussions with Microsoft at the moment&#8221; &#8212; suggesting&nbsp;the title has been granted at least temporary&nbsp;amnesty on Xbox platforms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, CD Projekt management <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/375271\/CD_Projekt_Polarizing_Cyberpunk_2077_launch_the_wrong_approach.php\">took responsibility for <em>Cyberpunk&#8217;s <\/em>rocky launch <\/a>&#8212;&nbsp;which finally arrived after multiple delays and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/371121\/CD_Projekt_backtracks_on_anticrunch_commitments_ahead_of_Cyberpunk_launch.php\">instances of mandatory crunch<\/a> &#8212; by admitting they &#8220;underestimated the scale and complexity of the issues&#8221; affecting the console versions of the game.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We ignored the signals about the need for additional time to refine the game on the base last-gen consoles,&#8221; said Kicinski during a conference call. &#8220;It was the wrong approach and against our business philosophy. On top of that, during the campaign, we showed the game mostly on PCs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This caused the loss of gamers&#8217;&nbsp;trust and the reputation that we\u2019ve been building through a big part of our lives. That\u2019s why our first steps are solely focused on regaining those two things.
