{"id":122052,"date":"2020-12-14T21:59:00","date_gmt":"2020-12-14T21:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/375232"},"modified":"2020-12-14T21:59:00","modified_gmt":"2020-12-14T21:59:00","slug":"subscription-library-ubisoft-is-now-on-google-stadia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2020\/12\/14\/subscription-library-ubisoft-is-now-on-google-stadia\/","title":{"rendered":"Subscription library Ubisoft+ is now on Google Stadia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" id=\"docs-internal-guid-babf4fcc-7fff-2a0a-d794-64fc6a7959f2\"><span>Ubisoft has officially launched its pay-for-access subscription library Ubisoft+ on Google Stadia, essentially rolling all the benefits of cloud-based game services into its $14.99 per month service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Plans to bring Ubisoft+, once known as Uplay+, to Stadia <a href=\"https:\/\/gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/372624\/Uplay_subscription_rebrands_as_Ubisoft_and_adds_multiplatform_support.php\">started to solidify back in October<\/a>, with the freshly rebranded service announcing all at once that it&#8217;ll introduce cross-platform progression and that it plans to launch on both Amazon Luna and Google Stadia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Stadia&#8217;s free tier requires only a Google account compatible device (Chrome Browser, mobile phone, or TV-tethered Chromecast Ultra) to play, meaning any Ubisoft+ subscribers can now access and play a library of first-party Ubisoft games without needing to own a beefy PC or console. <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/ubisoft-plus-google-stadia-150043117.html\">Engadget<\/a>, this first wave is only opening up access to Ubisoft+ and Stadia users in the United States and will gradually roll out access between now and December 16. As another caveat, not all of the service&#8217;s 100+ games will be eligible for cloud-based play. Ubisoft has yet to share a full list it seems, but looks like its latest three big releases&#8211;<em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Valhalla<\/em>, <em>Watch Dogs: Legion<\/em>, and <em>Immortals Fenyx Rising<\/em>&#8211;all made the cut. <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>This isn&#8217;t Ubisoft&#8217;s first foray into the cloud by any means. In addition to weeks of Amazon Luna support <\/span>(in beta), Ubisoft&#8217;s <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Odyssey<\/em> was notably the game featured front and center in Google&#8217;s early cloud-based game streaming beta &#8220;Project Stream&#8221;, even before it had coined the Stadia moniker.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Around that same time, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot <a href=\"https:\/\/gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/329672\/Ubisoft_CEO_Cloud_gaming_can_help_AAA_games_grow_beyond_PC_and_console.php\">described the Project Stream partnership<\/a> as an enticing way for developers like Ubisoft to reach more players outside of the PC and console space with triple-A titles,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;We think in the medium term this will give us games that have a lot more appeal than what we have today,\u201d&nbsp; Guillemot told investors back in that 2018 earnings call.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ubisoft has officially launched its pay-for-access subscription library Ubisoft+ on Google Stadia, essentially rolling all the benefits of cloud-based game services into its $14.99 per month service.
