Arguably one of the most talked-about titles of 2020, the game involves working together to find &#8220;imposter&#8221; players on a spaceship before they slay everyone else in the game, and it has proven to be <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/games\/2020\/nov\/29\/among-us-video-game-100-million-outer-space\">the perfect &#8220;lockdown&#8221; video game<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The game is pretty basic in terms of visuals, which is probably why this fan-made video showing what Among Us would look like on the Game Boy works so well; the basic premise transfers better than you might think to Nintendo&#8217;s primitive portable workhorse.<\/p>\n<p>Released by InnerSloth in 2018, Among Us is the very definition of &#8220;sleeper hit&#8221;. It took almost a year to reach one million players, but in 2020 \u2013 a year which has seen millions of people forced to remain in their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic \u2013 it popularity has positively exploded, with popular streamers and YouTubers turning it into something of a phenomenon.<\/p>\n<p>As of September, the game has been downloaded 100 million times, and in the same month, the concurrent player count peaked at a staggering 3.8 million.
