Of course, if digital sales were also included, that figure would be significantly higher.<\/p>\n<p>According to figures shared by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GameDataLibrary\/status\/1332081891332083712\">Games Data Library<\/a>, only five games have ever reached six million physical sales in Japan, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/ds\/new_super_mario_bros\">New Super Mario Bros.<\/a> being the most recent. New Horizons has managed to reach the six million mark in just eight months; the previous record was held by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/gbc\/pokemon_gold_and_silver\">Pok\u00e9mon Gold and Silver<\/a>, which reportedly achieved the same sales in 13 months.<\/p>\n<p>Will Animal Crossing overtake <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/mario_kart_8_deluxe\">Mario Kart 8 Deluxe<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2020\/11\/here_are_the_top_ten_best-selling_nintendo_switch_games_as_of_september_2020\">the best-selling Switch game of all time<\/a>?
