In just 10 days, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2020\/02\/sonic_the_hedgehog_movie_box_office_surpasses_usd200_million_worldwide\">banked close to $210 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Paramount didn&#8217;t waste any time &#8211; greenlighting a sequel and locking in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2020\/07\/paramount_locks_in_2022_release_date_for_sonic_the_hedgehogs_movie_sequel\">official release date of 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, we&#8217;ve got the first production details about this upcoming movie, thanks to some new documents filed with the British Columbia Film Commission a few days ago.<\/p>\n<p>The Sonic sequel is codenamed &#8220;Emerald Hill&#8221;, the in-house production company developing it is Red Energy Films and production is scheduled to take place between 15th March and 10th May next year.<\/p>\n<p>It seems the film has a budget over $20 million and the production manager mentioned is Abraham Fraser.<\/p>\n<p>As any Sonic fan will already know, Emerald Hill is the first zone of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/mastersystem\/sonic_the_hedgehog_2\">Sonic the Hedgehog 2<\/a><\/strong>.
