However, a new craze has surfaced online which is based around using <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/guides\/feature-best-mario-kart-games-of-all-time\">Mario Kart&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> more strident songs to encourage people to work faster.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/2020\/10\/26\/21534379\/mario-kart-music-homework-studying-nintendo-spotify-super-star-coconut-mall-switch-teens-college\">Polygon<\/a>, a TikTok video went viral recently which showed the effects of Mario Kart&#8217;s <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hEh0tGdfuow\">&#8220;invincibility star&#8221;<\/a> tune on the essay-writing prowess of one individual. &#8220;My stress levels went [up] but so did my word count,\u201d was the caption.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-oembed\"><!-- cache: oembed\/https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@daniellev98\/video\/6885847352700046594 @ 2020-10-26T15:55:27+00:00 --><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@daniellev98\/video\/6885847352700046594\" data-video-id=\"6885847352700046594\">\n<section> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"@daniellev98\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@daniellev98\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@daniellev98<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>my stress levels went \ud83d\udcc8 but so did my word count <a title=\"fyp\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/fyp\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#fyp<\/a> <a title=\"school\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/school\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#school<\/a> <a title=\"foryoupage\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/foryoupage\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#foryoupage<\/a> <a title=\"viral\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/viral\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#viral<\/a> <a title=\"foryou\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/foryou\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#foryou<\/a> <a title=\"mariokart\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/mariokart\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#mariokart<\/a><\/p>\n<p> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"\u266c original sound - Danielle\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/original-sound-6885847299914861313\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u266c original sound &#8211; Danielle<\/a> <\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>This appears to the origin point for what Polygon calls a &#8220;boom&#8221; in people listening to Mario Kart music online \u2013 so much so that songs from the game are now entering the streaming charts:<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Coconut Mall theme music from &#8216;Mario Kart Wii&#8217; debuts at #15 on the US Spotify Viral 50 chart, top new entry.<\/span>\u2014 chart data (@chartdata) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chartdata\/status\/1319730577629712384?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 23, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Interestingly, Polygon also notes that most of the songs in question have been uploaded by third-parties and not Nintendo itself \u2013 which means the company is potentially missing out on a big growth area.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also noted that while this strident and tense music may well inspire people to type faster, it doesn&#8217;t <em>necessarily<\/em> mean what they&#8217;re putting down on the page is any good.
