{"id":119850,"date":"2020-10-25T19:36:29","date_gmt":"2020-10-25T19:36:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gamefromscratch.com\/?p=23819"},"modified":"2020-10-25T19:36:29","modified_gmt":"2020-10-25T19:36:29","slug":"godot-3-2-4-beta-adds-sprite-batching-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2020\/10\/25\/godot-3-2-4-beta-adds-sprite-batching-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Godot 3.2.4 Beta Adds Sprite Batching Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/godot-3-2-4-beta-adds-sprite-batching-support.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Earlier this week the first beta of <a href=\"https:\/\/godotengine.org\/article\/dev-snapshot-godot-3-2-4-beta-1\">Godot 3.2.4 was released<\/a> bringing several fixes and improvements as well as a few new features.<\/p>\n<p>The primary features of the first Godot 3.2.4 beta from the <a href=\"https:\/\/godotengine.org\/article\/dev-snapshot-godot-3-2-4-beta-1\">Godot blog<\/a> include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Android App Bundle and subview embedding support.<\/li>\n<li>2D batching for GLES3 (remember that we added it for GLES2 in 3.2.2), and improvements to GLES2\u2019s batching.<\/li>\n<li>A new software skinning for MeshInstance to replace the slow GPU skinning on devices that don\u2019t support the fast GPU skinning (especially mobile).<\/li>\n<li>Several smaller fixes and improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Downloads for all major platforms are available for download <a href=\"https:\/\/godotengine.org\/article\/dev-snapshot-godot-3-2-4-beta-1\">here<\/a>. The major new feature of most interest to me is the new sprite batching, an optimization trick to improve 2D rendering speeds.
