As regular readers of the site will have already seen, Super Mario 3D All-Stars<\/strong><\/a> got off to a cracking start in the UK, jumping straight in at number one<\/a> in its debut week. As it turns out, the game’s early success was even bigger than we first thought.<\/p>\n

As reported by ReedPop’s Christopher Dring<\/a>, who has been sharing GfK chart data on social media, 3D All-Stars has actually just enjoyed the third-biggest launch of any game in the UK this year. Only The Last of Us Part II<\/strong> and Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/strong><\/a> enjoyed bigger launches \u2013 two of the most hotly anticipated titles of the year.<\/p>\n

It gets better still, though, as Dring also reveals that Super Mario 3D All-Stars was Nintendo’s 15th biggest game launch of all time in the UK, being the second biggest Mario platformer. The biggest launch for any Mario platformer was Super Mario Odyssey<\/strong><\/a> in 2017, which currently stands as Nintendo’s 14th biggest launch in the country.<\/p>\n

Its impressive debut also means that 3D All-Stars has had the fifth most successful launch of any Switch game in the region, only sitting behind the aforementioned Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Odyssey, as well as Pok\u00e9mon Sword and Shield<\/strong><\/a> and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
