This time, they believe they&#8217;ve uncovered additional &#8220;GPU features&#8221; in the GameCube and Wii emulator within the collection. They go on to suggest how it could be a sign of more to come (possibly other games from these generations), but can&#8217;t guarantee anything.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It seems likely that NERD implemented a generic GameCube and Wii emulator that can run any game, and then made specific builds that target Galaxy and Sunshine for SM3DAS.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps a sign of more to come? *It isn&#8217;t guaranteed* &#8211; we&#8217;ll just have to see. I certainly hope, at least.<\/p>\n<p><\/span>\u2014 OatmealDome (@OatmealDome) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OatmealDome\/status\/1307460098768465922?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 19, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>YouTuber <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ccJPW5rMCdM\">Modern Vintage Gamer<\/a> also speculated how this could lead to more games:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Given the inclusion of these two GPU features in the emulation layer, while right now there is no proof of anything &#8211; and I want to be very clear that this is just speculation, it does kind of suggest though, that the reason why <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nintendo_European_Research_%26_Development\">NERD<\/a> decided to build an emulation layer for Mario 3D All-Stars rather than just port code, is not because it&#8217;s a &#8216;lazy port&#8217; but because they wanted to build an emulation layer that is reusable, and they want to use it for up and coming titles.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The cost and time to port older games would be significant, verses applying an emulation layer just to other games.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I think the emulation layer that NERD has developed is going to be utilised for game-specific enhancements and game-specific remasters to the Nintendo Switch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Ultimately, they&#8217;ve gone down the right path and it really opens up the door for older games to be remastered.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>What do you make of these latest findings?
